I currently compete in the Open PR classes, jumping in the JNR 1.20/1.25m. I plan to go up to the Open JNR Classes soon. I used to compete in Open PR Showing and Equitation. I now compete in Intermediate JNR Equitation, and may start doing a bit of dressage.

Kayleigh Oakes
My name is Kayleigh Oakes (23)
For as long as I can remember, I have been horse crazy.
As a child I used to beg my parents endlessly to allow me to take up horse riding.
After them fighting against the idea for many years, at the age of twelve they finally gave in.
At 15 I started riding with Ian Van Schalkwyk, and that’s when my riding and competitive career just took off!
I am incredibly grateful for my current string of horses, Winter Axe , Saratoga Star Wars & Pewter Sky
My greatest achievement to date was when I jumped my first open class (1.30m).
My ambition has always been to jump around World Cup level one day.
I am always aiming to better myself as a rider and to keep enjoying my horses & the sport.

I am also a racing enthusiast and quite involved in the racing industry, even trying out the 2024 Okapi Ladies International.
I look forward to being part of the Odds n Jods Team.
